Early Ice Hockey Team Photo w/ HOF Canadien Joe Malone- Offered is a magnificent unidentified team photograph of an ice hockey team circa 1930s or 1940s, B&W measuring approximately 8x10 in original photographers mat measuring 12x14 overall with credit of F.E. Marsan, Montreal. The photo pictures the entire team in uniform with equipment at the end of a hockey ring. Malone is standing in suit and coat in the upper left. I am assuming he was either a coach or perhaps manager or owner. The players sweater crest shows the symbol for medicine or pharmacy indicating the team was a medical college team. The image is great and overall in excellent condition. Any original image of NHL Hall of Fame Players are very rare especially one of the early great ones. August 6, 2005 At 17, he played with the Quebec City Crescents in his first organized hockey game. In 1909 Malone graduated to the Quebec Bulldogs of the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association, where he offered a preview of his future brilliance by accounting for eight goals in 12 games. The following year Malone played two games in Quebec, but the team ceased operations when it refused to join the newly formed National Hockey Association. He finished up the 1909-10 season with Waterloo of the Ontario Professional Hockey League. Quebec reacquired Malone when they joined the NHA in 1911 and immediately installed him as captain. The Phantom enjoyed an outstanding seven-year career with the Bulldogs, during which the club won the Stanley Cup twice and Malone led the league in scoring for three years. The team emerged as Stanley Cup winners after taking the regular-season title in 1912. In March of that year, the Bulldogs crushed the challengers from Moncton, New Brunswick, with Malone and linemate Jack McDonald accumulating 14 of the team's 17 goals. The Bulldogs didn't join the NHL when it was formed in December 1917 and Malone soon found himself playing left wing in a Montreal Canadiens uniform. He scored a personal-best 44 goals in 20 games as part of an outstanding line with Newsy Lalonde and Didier Pitre. Malone remained with the Canadiens for one more season before returning to Quebec for the 1919-20 schedule. It was during his last game for his hometown club against Toronto that Malone scored seven goals to establish an NHL record never matched, even by the likes of Richard, Hull, Esposito, Gretzky or Lemieux. Malone spent the 1920-21 and 1921-22 seasons with the Hamilton Tigers, where he assumed the dual responsibilities of player and coach. He demonstrated that his offensive skill was still intact by recording 51 goals in 44 games over the two seasons. After refusing to attend the Tigers' training camp in 1922, Malone was sent back to Montreal and spent his last two years as a substitute with the Montreal Canadiens. The team won the Stanley Cup during his final NHL season in 1923-24. One of hockey's most naturally gifted scorers, Malone totaled 343 goals in 273 regular-season contests between 1909 and 1924. He scored five or more goals in a single game 10 times in his career. Malone is a member of the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1950...$250.....CLICK IMAGE

Only Known Photo of Howie Morenz Funeral in Montreal Forum- Offered is a one of a kind original photograph that once hung in the Montreal Forum original home of the NHL Montreal Canadians. The photograph pictures the funeral of Hockey’s “Babe Ruth”, Howie Morenz held inside the Montreal Forum. Seen is the casket at mid ice, the numerous floral arrangements, the pall bearers, the crowd which filled every seat, the family and dignitaries and much more. This is the only known image of this historic sports event. The photo is B&W and measures approximately 14x16 and has been museum framed under UV glass in a great ornate oak frame with two original newspaper articles about Morenz and the funeral. One of the articles has a great photo of Morenz. Any items associated with this hockey legend are hard to come by and one of this caliber comes along only once. Howarth "Howie" Morenz has often been referred to as hockey's first bona fide superstar. He electrified fans and confounded the opposition in a way that ensured his exalted status in hockey history. Remarkably, Morenz's total of 291 regular-season and playoff goals in 14 NHL seasons represents only one aspect of the enormous impression he left on the sport. Morenz was one of the dominant offensive forces in the league in the late 1920s. He scored a league-high 51 points in 1927-28 and was presented with the Hart Trophy. Two years later he registered an incredible 40 goals in 44 games. In 1930-31, he won his second Hart Trophy and scoring title with another 51-point season. Morenz was also selected to the NHL's inaugural First All-Star Team in 1931. The following year he scored 49 points in 48 games and was awarded his third Hart Trophy in five seasons as well as another spot on the First All-Star Team. By the mid-1930s, the tenacious and often violent attention of the opposition's defenders had taken its toll on Morenz's trademark speed. He was sent to the Chicago Black Hawks in 1934 and spent parts of two seasons there before joining the New York Rangers for the last 19 games of 1935-36. Canadiens head coach Cecil Hart spearheaded Morenz's return to Montreal for the 1936-37 season. Playing with a renewed sense of purpose, the "Canadien Comet" teamed with Johnny Gagnon and Aurel Joliat to help Montreal to a first-place lead in the regular-season standings. Morenz's rejuvenation was cut short when he suffered a broken leg in a home game against the Black Hawks on January 28, 1937. It was generally agreed that the injury would end his career. A few weeks later, on March 8, the hockey world was stunned by the news of Morenz's death, brought on by complications related to his injury. Three days later the Canadiens turned the Forum into a shrine in honour of their fallen star. Thousands of fans lined the streets and crowded the arena in a tremendous outpouring of emotion and respect for one of hockey's immortals. Inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, Morenz was one of the first to be elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame when it was established in 1945.....................................................................................................$1200 CLICK IMAGE 2

This is a magnificent image in excellent condition showing all the players in uniform, equipment and winning championship trophy . In the first row, seated second from the left is NHL Hall of Fame player Harry Oliver. Harry "Pee Wee" Oliver was a self-taught hockey player, perfecting his craft as a youngster on the frozen river near his home. "When I was a kid, there was no organized hockey," he explained. "We just went out and played, sometimes on an outdoor rink, but mostly on the river." He played his junior and senior hockey with the Selkirk Fishermen before moving to Calgary to play with the Canadians of the Big-4 and the Tigers of the WCHL from 1920-21 to 1925-26. Although he was one of the lightest players in the league he had speed and grace of a thoroughbred, and was named to the WCHL First All-Star Team in 1924 and 1925. Harry Scott, Sports Editor of the Calgary Albertan, called him "smooth as silk," and he possessed great stick handling abilities and an accurate shot. Oliver's behaviour was always exemplary, both on and off the ice. In his entire career, Oliver never spent more than 24 minutes in the penalty box during a season. Harry was sold to the Boston Bruins on September 4, 1926 and played a total of eight seasons in Boston, winning the Stanley Cup in 1928-29. In the center of the photo is NHL goalie Andy Aikenhead. A standout for two full seasons with the New York Rangers from 1932 to 1934, Aikenhead took over the starting job from John Ross Roach and for two years was a solid if unspectacular netminder. He had played ten years in various minor leagues out west, most notably appearing in the Allan Cup finals in 1924 and 1926 with Saskatoon. Aitkenhead's rookie season of 1932-33 was a Stanley Cup-winning one as he played all eight games for the Broadway Blueshirts, winning six and recording two shutouts en route to the championship in four games over Toronto. At 29, Aitkenhead looked set to be the team's goalie of the future. After playing every game of the following season, though, the team was eliminated from the playoffs quickly and he lost the starter's job the next season to Davey Kerr. Aitkenhead played just ten games, and spent the next six seasons in the PCHL, retiring in 1941........$225......CLICK IMAGE
